The first part of the story is set during the Triassic period, hence on the supercontinent Pangea. Local cultures match roughly to modern locations, based on what was left there by the aliens that humans were later influenced by. Hence further North there's a certain Slavic atmosphere, whereas in the South it might appear Middle-Eastern or African. But time and distance have distorted things. Technology is semi-advanced but analogue, uncommon, and constrained by how powerful the aliens are. They have little need to develop things as much as humans later do. Focus is on art, philosophy, science, and mathematics, rather than engineering. Engineering is highly focused on interstellar transport, but much of this is imported from Alpha Centauri. Later, weapons become a focus.
Humans simply call them Aliens. Most of them appear humanoid in nature, though often with unnatural hair or eye colors. The significant difference is that these beings know gravitational field manipulation (GFM). Their lifespans can last thousands of millenia, meaning they live on a cosmic scale, able to manipulate the formations of solar systems. Their presence is said to heal, and the well learned among them can bestow upon humans the gifts of longer life and slowed aging, supposedly by slowing down time in a person's very cells. Those from Alpha Centauri can be differentiated by their bioluminescent eyes. It's believed that they are humanity's ancestors, or perhaps creators. The remains of their cultures are interspersed through human society. Find an overview of GFM here.
